Following on from the success of the RSPCA's 2009 Political Animal site, the charity wanted to create a similar site for the UK general elections with the aim of raising awareness of animal rights, and ensuring that laws which have been protecting animals under the Labour Government, were not lost after the 2010 May election.
Detailed pages full of information relating to certain welfare issues educated and informed users, while supporters could also lobby candidates about animal welfare, as well as the issues that matter most to them personally with ease and efficiency.
The site also provides users with tips on just to how to quiz their local candidates effectively at hustings or through emails, letters etc.
A key element of the Political Animal microsite is the timeline, incorporated by Javascript, showing how animal welfare law has developed leading to, and after, the creation of the Animal Welfare Act 2006.
There is also an interactive poll and a forum to discuss issues, publish your own animal rights manifesto and comment on those written by other people.
