Growing Food from Britain

Precedent Communications designed and developed the Food from Britain website. Commissioned by the Government, Food from Britain (FFB) aims to increase UK export of food and drink whilst supporting the growth of high quality regional food producers.

Precedent worked with Food from Britain over a year ago to develop a web strategy which resulted in merging several sites that they were using to promote various different markets and services. FFB then came back to Precedent to undertake the development of the new website.

The key objective of Food from Britain was that the vast amount of information available on the site to be well managed, presented clearly and easily accessible. By using the RedDot content management system the FFB staff can update the site easily and regularly, ensuring that the information presented is always relevant.

The site now contains an online directory with details of over 5,000 UK exporters and producers, in addition to acting as a key place to search for both international and national buyers when looking for UK exporters and producers of quality regional food and drink. The site also provides the latest information on market trends and new opportunities for British food and drink producers.

According to David McNair, Chief Executive of FFB. 'The diverse range of food and drink producers supported by FFB, and the huge variations in the markets in which they're represented, means there is an incredible amount of very specific information to communicate. The new site has been designed to give clear, concise and easily-accessible information for both producers and buyers in order to increase the presence of British food and drink across the globe'.

Usability is vital to the success of any website, and this has been a top priority throughout the entire design process. Indeed, as part of the process, we invited members of our Fast Track scheme to provide us with their feedback on the new-look site. The responses were very encouraging and extremely helpful in the final makeup of the site.

The result is an informative, easily updated site that stresses the message of Food from Britain throughout.
