Creating an e-comms strategy for DCMS
Precedent worked with the Department for Culture, Media and Sport to develop an e-communications strategy spanning their web based communication with staff, sponsored bodies, central government and the public.
We recommended a new approach to e-communications through the creation of a multi-layered portal that provided all the information a user needed whether internal or external through a single portal personalised by their access privileges. We provided pragmatic steps to achieving this goal as well as analysing the benefits for the organisation and the benefits for users, and defining measures of success.
The process involved workshops with both staff and partners, a usability review of each existing site and interviews with key stakeholders and senior management within the DCMS. This work was done in parallel with an extensive stakeholder analysis project being undertaken by the Central Office of Information. An interim report presented the proposed strategy and following acceptance of these recommendations we undertook more detailed workshops to develop the specific site structures, prioritise the content and develop site design concepts that illustrated the interface and navigation principles for the new site.
The e-communications strategy developed will be utilised to inform and develop the various DCMS web presences over the next three years.
